ABSTRACT

Chondroid syringomas are neoplasms with both epithelial and mesenchymal differentiation originating from sweat glands. A case of chondroid syringoma with marked calcification on plain X-ray localized under the skin of the left foot is reported. A 26-year-old female patient presented with a hard mobile nodular mass on the left plantar surface. On plain X-ray image marked calcification of the lesion was observed. The lesion was removed and the resulting defect was primarily closed under local anesthesia. Postoperative period was uneventful. Histopathologic diagnosis was chondroid syringoma with areas of ossification. There was no recurrence on follow up. This is a rare and interesting case, exhibiting extensive calcification, ossification and unusual localization in the foot.
