ABSTRACT

Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis (CRP) is a rare disorder of unknown origin, mostly affecting young female adults. The eruption

Comprises confluent, flat, brown papules localized primarily to the intermammary and interscapular regions with subsequent spread to the breast and abdomen. At the periphery, the papules spread out forming a pigmented reticulated pattern. As the exact pathophysiology of CRP remains unknown, various treatment modalities have been proposed, such as antifungal agents, salicylic acids, retinoids and selenium sulfide. However, response to those modalities has been unsatisfactory. Recently, treatment with various antibiotics has been reported. We report a case of a 23-year-old woman diagnosed with CRP who responded well to the antibiotic doxycycline.
