Hair disorders comprise an important portion of dermatology patients. The most common encountered hair disorders are alopecias. Alopecia is not a diagnosis in itself, but is a problem that needs to be investigated and designated a name. On our way to find this name, dermatoscopy has proved to be one of the most efficient tools at hand. On our next step, the knowledge of which investigation to perform and our skill to interpret the results will carry us to success. Recent advances on the pathogenesis of hair disorders are important since they shall steer our therapy. In the end, how to give which therapy, will be possible by knowing the tricks of these therapies.
