ABSTRACT

Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis etiology is an unknown, rarely seen dermatosis. It has been proposed that it may be the result of abnormal host response to Pityrosporum ovale or keratinization disorders. Clinically, it is characterized by brownish hyperkeratotic and reticular papules which seen on seborrheic areas and tend to coalesce. In the treatment there are numerous therapeutic alternatives such as topical or systemic retinoids, antifungal agents, antibiotics, steroids, topical calcipotriol, and mostly no effective response can be obtained. Here, we present two female and three male diagnosed with confluent and reticulated papillomatosis treated with oral doxycycline and topical tretinoin.
