Our aim was to assess laboratory findings, clinical features and frequency of these manifestations in 70 Behçet’s disease patients.
The study included 70 patients who are followed up in the outpatient clinic of chronic dermatological diseases and diagnosed with Behçet’s disease according to criteria established by International Study Group for Behçet’s disease. The records of outpatient clinic of chronic dermatological disease, Behçet’s disease registry software were used to acquire data. Hematocrit, ferritin, vitamin B12 and folic acid levels were assessed as laboratory findings.
Median frequency of oral aphthae complaint was 2.44 (1.0-4.0) per month. Median time for oral aphthae recovery was 7.9 (5.0-10.0) days. Genital ulcers were present in 72.86% (n=51) of the patients. Articular involvement was present in 67.14% (n=47) of the patients. Mean serum hematocrit percentage was 38.44±5.44 for all the patients. Mean serum ferritin level was 11.70 ng/mL, 12.30 ng/mL in male patients and 30.69 ng/mL in female patients. Serum vitamin B12 levels were 244 pg/mL on average, 252 pg/mL in male patients and 226.2 pg/mL in female patients. Mean serum folic acid level was 6.99 ng/mL.
We tried to emphasize the frequency of Behçet’s disease symptoms and some laboratory findings in Turkey.
